For Student Reporters

Use this page to see your assigned reporting beats and learn which beats are being covered by your classmates.

Your beat is an area you are responsible for following throughout the school year. Do not wait for someone to bring every story to you. Maintain contact with the people connected to your beats, watch for developments, and bring strong story possibilities to the Pitch Meeting.

Use the newsroom menu to move through each stage of the two-week production cycle. If you are unsure how to cover a particular beat, open the Reporting Beats page and select that beat’s complete reporting guide.

For Teachers and Staff

Teachers, coaches, sponsors, administrators, and staff members are encouraged to share story possibilities, upcoming events, achievements, schedule changes, awards, activities, and other newsworthy developments with the BVP Newsroom.

To find your student reporter, look through the staff profiles below for the student whose Reporting Beats list includes your program, organization, team, or area. The student’s Bellville ISD email address appears directly beneath their name.

You may contact that student directly with information or a possible story lead. Providing advance notice is especially helpful when coverage may require an interview, photography, filming permission, attendance at an event, or time to gather additional information.

***NOTE***

Submitting an idea does not guarantee publication or broadcast coverage, but early communication gives the student reporter the best opportunity to develop and pitch the story. Please remember that BVP reporters are students first. Their class schedules, extracurricular activities, family obligations, transportation, or inability to drive may affect when and where they can provide coverage.

If the assigned student is unavailable, or if you are unsure whom to contact, you may always send the information directly to BVP instructor Greg Stuessel at hstuessel@bellvillebrahmas.org. We will review the opportunity and determine the best way to cover it.

This section is your go-to source for staying organized and on track in BVP.

The Google Calendar shows important due dates for assignments, production cycles, filming days, and major events. Students are expected to use this calendar to plan ahead, manage their workload, and meet deadlines like a real production team would.

On the right, you’ll see live updates from our Remind Classroom. This is where Mr. Stuessel shares key announcements, reminders, and quick updates. Parents can view the latest messages here — and students can use the “Join Class” button to get connected directly.
